Actually, if you avoid porn and just describe misunderstanding, embarrasement and bitterness, it may even make sense. Like: D., as a true Numenorian, is drawn to elven blood, and never truly cared for anybody before, being too busy with father's approval and the affairs of state and never had to understand his own heart, and he is used to use his reading of the others' mercilessly. (And sweetheart Faramir feels the same attraction, but it works better for him, as we know) Once he meets T., he is confused about his own reaction etc, etc. By the time he meets 1/2^20-elven Finduilas, his relationship with the talented captain is damaged beyond repair, and T.'s secrecy didn't help matters, but at least D. knows for sure he loves woman and can sire heirs with quite a pleasure.
