Surviving 10 days starvation in tender age, repeated exposure to ammonia+chlorine vapors, stab wound with no medical attention. I know people are more durable than they have to be, but this is a bit too much. Besides, I don't see literary point. It is not well written, it gives no moral lesson -- I guess it does in an epilogue, but he could just as well publish epilogue separately -- it has no plot. As I said, it could have happened. If it did, I am heartless etc. If it didn't, it is a dark and not particularly talented fantasy. How do I tell?
