Jul. 6th, 2008 03:47 pmIt sucks to be a girl. Tried to get myself *small* cappuccino. In a *good* brunch (Sunday, though). In case you don't know the trick, order "short" cappuccino in Starbucks or "small" in Peet's: less milk (=>cheaper), same bang, and, since it's not on menu, such order presumably signals your connoisseurship and makes the barista try harder. Only it doesn't. The melancholy fellow behind the machine looked me straight in the eye and poured milk from under the foam right into the cup.
I thought and even wrote here and deleted a lot of things, but I don't know how to handle such situations. The point of handling is not abusing the barista, but getting the decent drink. Conveying I can tell it from the bad from the beginning would be best.
